Frequently asked questions about WorkIO

Find answers about logging workdays, jobs, salaries, syncing, backups and the different WorkIO versions.

Workdays and work hours

How can I check another month or year?

To check another month or year, tap the month and year shown at the top of the calendar. From there you can change the selected date and check the workdays for other months or years.

How can I change my salary?

To change your salary or rate, open the settings for the corresponding job or project in the mobile app and update it there. The change applies to workdays you log afterwards; previous workdays keep the rate they were originally recorded with.

Can I log overtime and breaks?

Yes. WorkIO lets you tell apart worked time, breaks and overtime. In WorkIO Pro you can also create custom hour types, such as night, holiday or on-call hours, and assign them different rates.

Jobs and income

Can I use WorkIO for more than one job or project?

Yes. From the mobile apps you can create and manage several jobs or projects and keep their records, workdays and rates separate. Job management isn't currently available from WorkIO Web.

How does WorkIO calculate my income?

WorkIO calculates your income from your logged hours and configured rates. In WorkIO Pro you can use different hour types, each with its own rate. Rate changes don't retroactively affect workdays that were already logged.

Account, data and sync

What do I do if I forgot my password?

If you use WorkIO Pro and forgot your password, start the recovery process from the sign-in screen. Follow the instructions sent to the email address linked to your account. If you run into any issues, you can contact WorkIO support.

Where is my data stored on Android?

It depends on the WorkIO version you use. Android Legacy stores data locally on the device and doesn't require an account, so it's a good idea to back up your data regularly. WorkIO Pro uses an account and cloud sync to keep data available across compatible devices.

Where is my data stored on iPhone?

WorkIO for iPhone uses an account and the WorkIO Pro sync system. Your data syncs automatically so you can recover it by signing in, and check it from compatible devices and WorkIO Web.

Does WorkIO sync my data across devices?

WorkIO Pro syncs the data linked to your account across compatible devices and lets you access it from WorkIO Web. Android Legacy works locally and doesn't automatically sync its data with WorkIO Pro.

Android and backups

How can I restore a backup on Android Legacy?

On Android Legacy, download the backup file you received by email onto the device. Open WorkIO, go to settings and select "Restore backup". Choose the downloaded file and review the confirmation notice, since restoring replaces your current data. Once it finishes and the app restarts, check from the side menu that your jobs, projects and workdays were restored correctly.

Does WorkIO work without an internet connection?

Android Legacy works locally and can be used without an internet connection. WorkIO Pro and WorkIO Web rely on your account and syncing for certain features and shouldn't be presented as fully offline versions.

Versions and platforms

Which platforms is WorkIO available for?

WorkIO is available for Android and iPhone. Users with an active WorkIO Pro subscription can also access WorkIO Web from the browser to check their data, log workdays, edit periods and generate reports.

What WorkIO versions are there and how do they differ?

WorkIO currently has Android Legacy and the WorkIO Pro ecosystem. Android Legacy works without an account, stores data locally and offers specific features like offline use and quick clocking via widget for subscribers. WorkIO Pro uses an account, syncs data and offers features such as custom hour types and access to WorkIO Web. Available features can vary across Android, iPhone and Web.

What can I do from WorkIO Web?

With an active WorkIO Pro subscription you can check your data from the browser, add workdays, edit periods, check the available summary and statistics, and generate reports. Jobs and projects currently need to be managed from the mobile apps.

Reports and exporting

Can I export my workdays?

Yes. WorkIO lets you generate reports of your logged workdays and hours. The available options vary by platform; Android Legacy offers various text and PDF options, while WorkIO Pro and Web offer the report formats available in each version.

WorkIO free, ads and subscriptions

Is WorkIO free?

WorkIO's mobile apps let you use their available features for free with ads. Some features or services may require a subscription, and WorkIO Web requires an active WorkIO Pro subscription.

Why does WorkIO show ads?

Ads help keep the free tier of WorkIO available in the versions that include them. Options to remove ads or access additional features depend on the version and plan available.
